Finding Joy in the day to day stuff

Sorry for the week of no posting. Emma had another Seizure and an overnight doctors appointment/eeg last week and I honestly am not handling all of this too well. I think I am just coming to grips with the fact that this isn't like a cold and is not going to go away. She is going to have to deal with this for the rest of her life and thus we are too. We came home from the appointment with medication, and so far no more seizures and I am thanking God for each seizure free day. I have been really having a hard time emotionally, but somehow, I have been more aware of the little things in each day that make me smile/laugh/feel better, if only for a moment. I realized that I don't have to be happy all the time in order to give God glory. He never said that I couldn't have emotion. That I can't be sad or angry. He did say to do all things without complaining. So I am trying my best to do just that. Have honest emotions, not complain, and find whatever I can to be thankful for and smile as often as possible. So with that I am going to attempt to post daily something that I am thankful for (except for this weekend when I am out of town). It will most likely be a very little and trivial thing, but those are the things that I have been appreciating and recognizing most as of late. I would love it if you would post what you are thankful for each day in the comments as well.

This is the last pot of homemade tomato sauce of the year. I am so thankful that my garden is a luxury and not a necessity. That I get to make tomato sauce because I want to, not because I have to. And I am also thankful that God gave me the ability to cook (and also the ability to eat, but I might be less thankful for that as it does seem to cause a bit of weight problem...).

Translation for those of you who don't reading developmental/emergent writing...

Tinkle, Tinkle Little Bat
Why did you tinkle upside down like that?

Hey, at least she is writing!

How fun to stumble across your blog!

I got a kick out of reading your posts about phonics. I homeschooled our son for two years, during which time I taught him to read. At one point we were learning the "ch" blend and were going through a list of words that began with "ch". Chart, church, chain, chruck. Chruck?! Yes, you know that thing that you drive. You can guess that the next day we worked on the "tr" blend. LOL!!!

They crack me up! Anyway. I was just thinking that I needed to remind you about the little funny things...like how I have this great picture on my camera (but not on flickr yet...) of emma and abi eating cheese curds, happy, in the middle of a somewhat cranky kid day. And them in the bouncy castle completely care-free (and not thinking at all about seizures). So I will do my best to help you to remember the lovely things. Like how I most likely will be at the CC meet Saturday because my husband doesn't want to take a nice little weekend trip. But I will TRY to look at the bright side. And not write entire blog posts in the comments...

I reminded myself when I got up at 5:45 this morning that I'm grateful that I have a job to go to and that I don't dread going. Even if I do dread 5:45.
